bereavement support initiative
The Bereavement Support Initiative is LDC’s first program and launched in October 2022. We have partnered with local clinics, funeral homes, social workers, and physicians to share our services with clients undergoing reproductive loss.
loss doula trainings
Our Lunar Doulas participate in a 6-week program that comprehensively prepares them to support our diverse range of clients. Our curriculum has been thoroughly vetted by social workers, physicians, therapists, community members, and even patients who have directly experienced reproductive loss.
We educate our doulas on gender affirming language, reproductive health disparities, the role of culture and religion in loss, family and partner dynamics, barriers to care, and more. Our Lunar Doulas get to hear from guest speakers and practice role play scenarios adapted from real patient stories.
All of our doulas are given an official LDC grief and loss doula certificate. Our next training will be held in Fall 2023.
workshops
We are constantly developing new seminars and planning events to educate the community. LDC has been requested to present at hospitals, conferences, and university events. Our most popular workshops include “How To Support Loved Ones Experiencing Pregnancy Loss,” “LGBTQ+ Reproductive Loss,” and “Black Maternal Health.”
